Welcome to Prep 3.2. My name is Georgina Iraheta. Francesca Maputa, our classroom assistant, and I are happy to be your child’s teachers this school year.
This is my first year at Luanda International School and I am very excited to start the school year. I am from El Salvador but I have lived in Mexico, the USA, China, and Qatar. I have been teaching early years for over ten years, seven of which have been in PYP schools. Francesca has been at the school for two years. She is from Angola and she enjoys working with young children.
Please take note that whoever brings your child to school will remain outside on the playground with them until 7:45 am, at which time, the children may go to their respective classes. Please note that no playground supervision is offered in the morning. Also, please be aware that during the first two weeks of school, the Prep 3 classes will be dismissed at 11 pm. Beginning August 28th, the Prep 3 classes will finish at noon.
Each day your child should bring a backpack containing a labeled hat and a labeled reusable water bottle, labeled spare clothing, snack, lunch. We recommend you apply sunscreen and insect repellant before your child comes to school. Note that the P.E. day for Prep 3.2 is on Wednesday, and our Swim day is on Friday.
As part of our program, we encourage self-management skills such as independence, time management, and healthy life style. We ask that in your child’s lunch bag you pack a healthy snack such as fruits, vegetable, nuts or yogurt and to avoid chocolate, candy, cookies and sugary drinks.
Please be aware that this blog will be the main source of information this academic year. The purpose of our blog will be to communicate, share and inform you all of the learning that will be happening in Prep 3.2.
It is very important that your contact information (phone number and email address) is up to date. If you need to make changes, please email Sheila Burnay in the Enrollment Office at firstname.lastname@example.org. It is vital that we are able to contact you in an emergency situation.
We are looking forward to a very exciting year!
Ms. Georgina and Ms. Francesca
