Week 4- Who are you?

Dear Parents,

Last week, we started by asking the Prep 3.2 children “Who are you?” Immediately children answered by stating their name. Some also included their gender and age. With a little bit of prompting,  a few children added characteristics such as big and strong to describe themselves.  Jameson told us he is a human. The conversation extended to their family members, the language they speak and where they come from.  Children also talked about what like and dislike and we used a chart to organize the information. With this information, we can move forward in our unit of inquiry exploring and understanding of oneself in relationship to others.

This week we will explore the concepts of similar and different. Children will inquire into what we have in common and what makes us different from others.  The story Hooray for Fish! by Lucy Cousins, will be the provocation to get children thinking about these concepts.

Here are the links to the Clean Up Song we use in class. We hope you find it useful at home to implement a cleanup routine with your own child.

Finally, we would like to remind the parents that have not yet sent their family photo to send them as soon as possible as our unit of inquiry is moving along that direction and all children should have a photo to share with the rest of the group.

Have a good week,

Miss Georgina and Miss Francesca
