Visual Arts Stand Alone: Color Theory Update

Students learned about color theory and completed their checklist including primary colors, secondary colors, warm/cool colors, complementary colors, and tints/shades of a color.

They learned about tempera paint, watercolor paint, and tempera cakes and experimented with these materials in their process portfolios. The PYP visual arts learning outcome that they are working with is: (creating) identify, plan, and make specific choices of materials, tools, and processes. Therefore, students chose the materials and tools they wanted to design a weaving plate.

This week, they created their loom and are beginning to weave on their plates:

Reading – the Home and School Connection

Hello all,

Starting Monday 11th our readers will be bringing home books from the classroom Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.  These books will be accompanied by a bookmark.

The green one will say please listen to me read, the orange one will say please read with me, and the red one will say please read to me.  Books will either be selected by the students or by the teacher that has listened to them read.  We appreciate you taking the opportunity to find some time in your busy days to encourage and nurture the love of reading.

On the bookmark are some handy tips to help you when you are listening to, reading with or reading to.  And if the reading too is better done in your home language, we would love that!

If I student does not return a book to school the following day, we will not select a new book until that book has been returned.  We appreciate your support with this!

YOUR NAME workout

This week we have been exploring how we can make balanced food choices and choices about how we use our free time.  We had fun using the Your Name fitness chart below to have some fun exercise that didn’t need any equipment.

Your learners set a challenge for you.  To spell YOUR name and take on the fitness challenge. Don’t panic if you have M in your name, we changed somersaults to roly polys.

Learners would love to take a photo of you using your free time for fitness and send it to me at school.  Thanks for accepting the challenge!

Our First Buddy Meeting!

We had a great time meeting our buddies for the first time this year.  We are so proud that we have been selected to be buddies with an EC4 classroom.  It gives us a great chance to be role models and take on a position of leadership.

Below are some photos from our first meeting.  We can’t wait to hang out together again soon!
